Wake Forest High School offers a sequential choral music program with a reputation of musical excellence. Our curriculum is based on the NC Essential Standards for Music and offers courses for singers of all levels. Our program places emphasis on proper singing technique with a focus on theory, ear training, and vocal health. Students will be exposed to a variety of musical styles, and will experience performing in various languages throughout their time in the program. Through ensemble and solo opportunities, students are able to advance their musical skill set and gain confidence through performance. Students at WFHS have the opportunity to participate in the Treble, Tenor-Bass and Forest Treble Ensembles.

Advanced Chorus |
Advanced Chorus at Wake Forest is the combination of our proficient and advanced leveled Treble and Tenor Bass Ensembles. Placement in this choir is determined by audition. The students in this exhibit a high level of musical understanding and perform in multiple school and community performances each year. This group attends the NCMEA Music Performance Adjudication, choral competitions and sends student representatives to perform in NC Honors Chorus, NC All State Choir, and other district and statewide performances. |
Treble Choir |
Treble Choir 2022-2023 is a Proficient-Advanced level auditioned choir who will be traveling to competitions and adjudications across the state and nation. Treble Choir members are expected to participate both fall and spring semesters. Singers participate in the Music Performance Adjudication at Meredith College and have extra performance opportunities with the Chamber Singers. |
Tenor Bass Chorus |
Tenor Bass Chorus 2022-2023 is an auditioned group of tenors and basses. This collaborative learning space brings a mix of choral, barbershop, and popular a capella music to the classroom. Tenor Bass Chorus members are encouraged to participate both fall and spring semesters. Singers combine with the treble choir to form the WFHS Chamber Singers. The Tenor Bass Chorus sings at competitions and festivals state and nationwide. |

About the Director
Our director, MaryRobert McGrath and her cats are from Raleigh, NC. Ms. McGrath started singing as a small child, performing in children's choirs and musical theatre throughout her time in Wake County Schools. After graduating from Leesville Road High School, Ms. McGrath earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Appalachian State University. During her years at App State, she studied music and social justice abroad in Zululand, South Africa, and taught English and music in Karlsruhe, Germany. After completing student teaching in Holly Springs, Ms. McGrath jumped into work! Teaching music at Sycamore Creek Elementary and chorus at Durant Road Middle School.
